After a couple of years of solid gains markets had a tough 2022 first quarter. Half of the ETFs we cover slipped into Long Term Downtrends after starting the year with all of them being in Long Term Uptrends.
With half of our ETFs now in downtrends we have to consider being a bit more skeptical of the markets continuing their advances. Although recently there has been a little bounce, helping the half of our ETFs that are still in LT Uptrends. Still, when half of our ETFs lose their LT Uptrends it is certainly something to pay attention to.
In looking at the trends of our ETFs, the one’s still exhibiting LT Uptrends are the S&P, Value, MidCap, Dividend focused and Gold. Trend changes have been seen in Growth ETFs (obviously also impacting part of the S&P 500), Small Cap, Europe and Emerging Markets.
